Cocker spaniel dog with baseball

This summer enjoy a chance to bring your dog to a Major League Baseball game at stadiums across the country.

There will be plenty of barks in the parks of Major League Baseball this summer thanks to a new twist on America’s favorite pastime. Baseball parks across the country are welcoming man’s best friend to come to the park and enjoy game day in special seating sections with fun pre-game activities for people and their pooches.

MLB leagues started welcoming dogs in some of their parks nationwide a few years ago for game days known as “Dog Days” or “Bark in the Park”, among other names. Most of the parks offer extra activities including a pre-game parade around the field as well as fun activities and giveaways.

While a large number of teams open their parks at least one day per season with a “dogs welcome” sign, there are still several heavy hitters that haven’t stepped up to the plate. Fans anxiously await the day when arch rivals the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees open their parks to dog-loving fans and their fur babies. The Pittsburgh Pirates are the leaders of the pack in MLB for offering a whopping six dog-friendly games that their four-footed fans can attend this year.

In order to give your pooch a chance to hear their favorite team yell “play ball”, you must buy a ticket for Fido in advance. These events are so popular at some stadiums that they’ve added multiple dog-friendly dates to their schedule. Don’t wait to buy your tickets because these events sell out fast now that the dog days of summer are quickly becoming as American as baseball, hot dogs and apple pie!
